Our recent cases:

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky acted as an Ukrainian legal counsel to Sinara Locomotives Limited on the issues of Ukrainian merger control law, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the establishment of a joint venture between Sinara Locomotives Limited and Siemens AG which will be active in the design, manufacturing, commissioning, marketing, sale and servicing of locomotives in Russia and other CIS-Countries.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky advised Avaya Inc. on Ukrainian merger control law issues, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the acquisition by Avaya Inc. of enterprise solutions business from Nortel Networks Corporation.
    Avaya Inc. is an American company, a global leader in enterprise communications systems. It provides unified communications, contact centers, and related services directly and through its channel partners to leading businesses and organizations around the world. Nortel Networks Corporation is a Canadian corporation providing networking and communication products and solutions to enterprises of all sizes, ranging from small businesses to multi-national corporations, as well as government entities and other organizations.

  • Êonnov & Sozanovsky acted as a legal counsel to Star Media in its acquisition of a controlling stake in Ukrainian and Russian TV production and film making companies. The Star Media group includes Ukrainian and Russian companies, the number of which has been growing continuously.  In addition to the acquisition structuring, Konnov & Sozanovsky performed legal due diligence of eight Ukrainian and Russian companies. The tax practice of Konnov & Sozanovsky led such areas of the due diligence exercise as: disputes with tax and other controlling authorities, and regulatory compliance. Our lawyers also represented the Client before the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and successfully obtained permission for the acquisition.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky acted as a Ukrainian legal counsel to International Paper, a company with worldwide activities in the production and supply of paper and packaging, on the issues of Ukrainian merger control law, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the acquisition of 50% of Ilim, one of Russia’s leading pulp and paper producers.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky acted as a Ukrainian legal counsel to Basell, a worldwide company active in the manufacture and sale of polyolefins, polyolefin compounds as well as the licensing of polyolefins technology, on the issues of Ukrainian merger control law, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the acquisition of Lyondell Chemical Company, a US manufacturer of chemicals and plastics, a refiner of heavy, high sulfur crude oil and producer of fuel products.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky advised the overseas Olimpia Real Estate Holding LTD on its buyout of a major Ukrainian land owner. Ñompetition law department consulted the Client on Ukrainian merger control regime and obtained a permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the said buyout.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky acted as a Ukrainian legal counsel to Arkema SA, a leading producer of vinyl products, industrial chemicals and performance products, on the issues of Ukrainian merger control law, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the acquisition of French company Coatex SAS, which is active in production of rheological additives for water solutions.

  • Konnov & Sozanovsky acted as a Ukrainian legal counsel to Veolia Proprete (France), a wholly owned subsidiary and waste management division of Veolia Environnement, a global provider of environmental management services, on the issues of Ukrainian merger control law, including obtaining permission of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the acquisition of shares of SULO Group, international provider of waste management services.
